Galatians 3:27 Put On Christ
Galatians 3:27 (KJV) For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
“To put on” means “to clothe”. That Christ is manifested in the life of His people. We received the righteousness of Christ and manifest His righteous attribute in our lives.
Job 29:14 (KJV) I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.
Isaiah 61:10 (KJV) I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
This is fulfilled in the implementation of the Great Commission when God’s people go forth to witness for Him.
Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV) Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
What does it mean to be baptized into Christ? The Apostle Paul explains in Romans 6:3-4 (KJV) Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
An example is the return of the prodigal son to the father – Luke 15:22 (KJV) But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet.
Luke 15:17-19 (KJV) And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
Luke 15:21 (KJV) And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
Amen.
