John 17:2 Power Over All Flesh

John 17:2 (KJV)  As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

The mission of the Son of God was to give eternal life to as many as the Father ordains to eternal life. 

The Apostle Paul explained well when he said in Ephesians 1:3-4 (KJV)  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 

How has the Father given Christ power over all flesh? Ephesians 1:5-6 (KJV)  Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. 

In Christ, we have access to the Father. In Christ, we have the security of life everlasting. We can come to Him and find salvation in Him when we confess our sins with contrition of heart. Our sins are dealt with through Christ. This is the power that He give when He by Himself sacrificed His life to save us. What a wonderful Saviour! Let us follow Him fully! Amen.
