Lord’s Day, Vol. 10 No. 15
Rejoicing with Thanksgiving
It was on 24 March 2022 in the afternoon at 1.30 pm when visitation was made to the home of Mdm. Lim Chor Kheng to share the gospel. It was at the behest of her sister-in-law June Soon Eng Yew who has been praying for her salvation for many years. Mdm. Lim received the Lord and was also baptized with her husband Mr. Soon witnessing. Though not a believer, he consented to his wife’s baptism. A follow-up visitation was made on 7 April 2022 to present to Mdm. Lim her baptism certificate. June was confident that her brother too will soon come to the Lord.
Recordings of John Sung choruses “God Will Take Care of You”, “Only Jesus, Only Jesus”, and “He Will Hold Me Fast” were made on the handphone and played for Mdm. Lim’s encouragement. She was also taught how to pray. Communication was made in Teochew, Mandarin, and English.
Luke 15:8-10 (KJV) Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost. Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
For Mdm. Lim who is wheel-chair bound and on the brink of dementia, there was a great urgency to catch her attention with the gospel while she could respond and comprehend. Her response was with affirmative “Amens”. It would have been very sad if she was simply passed over in her old age and captured by pagan rituals as a default spiritual state. It was not to be. Thank God for His leading.
On 24 March 2022 afternoon at 4 pm, a visitation was made to the home of Mr. Lee Kim Song, his wife Pauline, and their son Chung to administer the Lord’s Supper to the family. At 94, Mr. Lee was very well though two years ago, he also was on the brink of dementia. The Lord preserved him to our amazement.
Mr. Lee was baptized last year on 8 April 2021. Recalling that visitation to Mr. Lee Kim Song’s home began in late 2019 to early 2020 with the intention of sharing with him the gospel. Conversing in English and his native dialect Teochew, the gospel was shared with Mr. Lee. [Weekly Newsletter, Vol. 9 No. 15]
Mr. Lee learned the chorus “Thank you, Lord” well with hand actions that his wife Pauline taught him.
Thank You, Lord
Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul
Thank you, Lord, for making me whole
Thank you, Lord, for giving to me
Thy great salvation so rich and free.
This week, we remember our Lord’s death on Good Friday (15 April 2022) and His resurrection from the dead on Easter Sunday where God willing, we shall have our Easter Sunrise Service (17 April 2022). The Lord’s Name is praised. Amen.
Yours lovingly,
Pastor Lek Aik Wee
