Psalm 62:5-8 God Is a Refuge For Us
Psalm 62:5-8 (KJV) My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.
The psalmist has his heart fixated upon God. He is a refuge for him. He was able to testify that God is his rock and salvation and his defense. Therefore, he waits only upon his God. This focus enabled him to be still in the times of trial.
He recommends his God as trustworthy and he was able to seek Him in his time of need. He poured out his heart before Him. The efficacy of prayer, the peace that he receives as he commits himself to God. There was much assurance and comfort that he finds in his heart.
Praise the Lord for being a refuge for His people during their time of need. There is safety and security in coming to Him. Therefore, there is fullness of help and hope in Him. Amen.
