Luke 11:9-10 The Blessing of Prayer

Luke 11:9-10 (KJV)  And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Our Lord Jesus encourages His disciples to pray. In prayer, the believer is exhorted to plead and to plead in faith and to plead by way of a visual posture, ask, seek and knock. There is an urgency to the plea and there is a promise of relief.

This is such a wonderful promise of help in times of need and of answered prayer. Jesus reasoned with us so that we can boldly come to the throne – Luke 11:11-13 (KJV)  If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

This calls for much thanksgiving and praise. This is the blessing of prayer and the blessed life with God, with Jesus as our Advocate to bring all our petitions to the Father in heaven. Amen.
