John 12:25-26 The Paradox of Life with God
John 12:25-26 (KJV) He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
We are told that if we will not love our Lord above ourselves if we will not seek Him first before we consider ourselves if we will draw back after we confess Him as Lord and Saviour, such a life, the Father in heaven will not honour.
When we come to faith in Jesus Christ, the love for this world ought to be crucified with Him upon the cross. Otherwise, it will be a hindrance to our spiritual life. We are exhorted to hate the world, the system that is opposed to God and His Christ. We are to embrace Christ and serve Him wholeheartedly.
The faithful servant will be honoured. He has understood the apparent paradox that Jesus speaks of and is willing to count all things lost, to follow His Master. In so doing, He finds eternal life. The honour of life with God now and forevermore. Amen.
