John 20:31 Believing Ye Might Have Life

John 20:31 (KJV)  But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. 

The testimony of Scripture is summed up well by the Apostle John when he said, “these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.” The Old Testament Scriptures prophesied of the coming Christ. The New Testament confirmed that Christ has come.

He is identified as Jesus. All who believe in Him might have life through His Name. Thank God for bringing us to the truth in the revelation of Scripture to the Person of our Saviour. We begin our Christian life when we believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. And it is promised that in believing, ye might have life through His Name.

John W. Peterson echoed well this text when he sang:

New Life in Christ! Abundant and free!

What glories shine, What joys are mine, What wondrous blessings I see!

My past with its sin, The searching and strife, Forever gone – There’s a bright new dawn!

For in Christ I have found new life!
