Acts 20:35 Support the Weak

Acts 20:35 (KJV)  I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

The Apostle Paul expressed the Lord Jesus’s exhortation to His disciples of the blessing of giving. There is a greater blessing in giving than in receiving. He directs us to consider those who cannot repay us, here highlighted as “the weak”. Unable to give back, it is a one-way offering of help, with no reciprocation.

Logically, when we give, we seemed to lose something. How could it be that we are more blessed? This is with regard to the recipient and ultimately, our Ultimate Giver, God Himself. The Lord Himself has committed to blessing the giver.

To be in the position of stewardship, one has first to be labouring so that we can be endowed with the wherewithal to be a blessing to others. It also means that our labour is directed for the eternal good of others. Such is the fruit of gospel labour, when we share Christ with someone. This is the greatest blessing. Amen.
