Matthew 7:24-25 Founded Upon a Rock

Matthew 7:24-25 (KJV)  Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

The stability of a house depends on its foundation. A strong foundation will secure the house in times of storm. It is a picture of our spiritual life that our Lord Jesus gives in this illustration. When our lives are built upon Christ and His Word, there is true stabiility.

The admonition is to deviate not from Christ, the foundation and anchor of our eternal well-being. The picture of the stable house that can withstand the flood provides us with a clear understanding of Christ being the anchor and root of our faith. Building our lives upon Him and with Him at the helm is life’s only and best blessing.

May the Lord strengthen His people to faithfully follow Him. Amen.
