Philippians 3:14 Press Toward the Mark
Philippians 3:14 (KJV) I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
The undaunting, persevering spirit of the Apostle Paul in following after Christ is a conviction that was made whilst he was in prison. It was amidst suffering and want that he made this commitment to continue serving the Lord.
It would cost him his life which has been quite broken as a result of the numerous sufferings of stoning, shipwrecks and beatings. He saw the recompense of reward as worthy of his devotion.
He highly regarded Christ’s call in his life and sought to fulfil it even at all costs. He testified in Philippians 1:21 (KJV) For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
It attested to the Holy Spirit’s sanctifying work in his heart to enable to persevere. May his example of service inspire God’s people in every age to burn out for Him Amen.
