1 Peter 1:5 Kept Through the Power of God
1 Peter 1:5 (KJV) Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
The verb “kept” described properly the power of God wrought in the lives of His people. It means “to guard, to protect by a military guard, either to prevent a hostile invasion or to keep the inhabitants of a besieged from flight. It means to protect by guarding, to keep, by watching and guarding to preserve one for the attainment of something. In this context, deliverance and salvation.
It cannot be fully understood by the believer what God is doing for our sake but it will be revealed by God in due time when we meet Him. We shall be amazed at what He did on our behalf! He will show us what He did through His holy angels for our sake. On the part of the believer, faith in Him is the manifestation of that perseverance of God for his sake.
This is not just comfort but confidence in God’s power to do us good as we seek Him. It is also the courage to trust Him in the most adverse of circumstances.
May the Lord strengthen His very own. Amen.
