2 Timothy 1:7 Of a Sound Mind
2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
The Apostle Paul reminded Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:6 (KJV) Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
Timothy is “to stir up” the gift of God, to kindle up, inflame one’s mind, strength, and zeal, to be filled with the Spirit’s power to do the bidding of God. There is a spirit of fear that is debilitating, it is servile and cripples. This can be overcome by meditating and constant and consistent imbibing of the truth of God’s Word.
1 Timothy 4:13-14 (KJV) Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
The mind is protected in that it may be sober, being guided and under the influence of the Word of God, to love God and love our neighbours as ourselves. Amen.
