Ephesians 5:8 Walk as Children of Light

Ephesians 5:8 (KJV)  For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: 

Renewing the mind in personal sanctification and holiness is the exhortation here. The light of God’s truth, the light of God’s paths, the light of God’s glory, let it shine forth in the believer’s life.

This is the “Higher Ground” that the hymn writer Johnson Oatman, Jr., sought to convey when he penned the words:

I’m pressing on the upward way,

New tests I’m facing every day;

Still praying as I onward bound, “Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

Lord, lift me up, and let me stand

On Christ the Rock, and not on sand;

A higher plane than I have found, plant my feet on higher ground.
