Psalm 18:1 O LORD, My Strength
Psalm 18:1 (KJV) To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, the servant of the LORD, who spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said, I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.
The psalmist extols the LORD for delivering him from many near-death encounters. The LORD was his strength. How is the LORD his strength?
Psalm 18:2 (KJV) The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
Though the LORD is invisible, he is a very present help for the psalmist. The LORD is called his Rock and fortress protecting him from the onslaught of the evil one. He expresses his love for the LORD. Not just His protection, most importantly the salvation of his soul.
Psalm 18:31-32 (KJV) For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God? It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.
Following the LORD, His people grow from strength to strength. Amen.
