Romans 8:1 In Christ Jesus, After the Spirit

Romans 8:1 (KJV)  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 

There is a life that Christ has wrought wherein we should walk that will bring no judgment from God. This is the Spirit-filled life. A life that is lived when the believer yields to the leading of the Holy Spirit, in obedience to God’s Word.

What a life! What blessings. The Apostle Paul paints this glorious picture of the humble Christian life. He explains how.

Romans 8:2 (KJV)  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 

He explains why this is so.

Romans 8:3-4 (KJV)  For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 

This power of life in the Spirit is given to all of God’s children – Romans 8:14 (KJV)  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 

Let us therefore appropriate it. Amen.
