Psalm 10:17 The Desire of the Humble
Psalm 10:17 (KJV) LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:
The word “humble” means “lowly, poor, afflicted, meek, weak”, it describes a man with a poverty of spirit that resorts to God, understanding his own inability for any good, and sees his stark need for help.
The LORD, the psalmist testified, hears the cry of such a one. This is a desperate cry of one facing overwhelming affliction. Distress was on every side, and distraught, he quietens himself before God and prays.
Our LORD hears such as a call to Him, He shall in no wise shut His ears to their cry. Our LORD does allow affliction to come that His people may draw nigh to Him
Peter testified that the saints are to rejoice in the time of trial as they call and wait upon the LORD for deliverance – 1 Peter 1:6-7 (KJV) Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
May His saints be comforted to behold the salvation of the LORD and His Name glorified. Amen.
