Matthew 5:6 Hunger and Thirst After Righteousness
Matthew 5:6 (KJV) Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
The holy God is righteousness in all His ways, according to His holy character. Righteousness is the outworking of God in relation to others. It is grounded upon His holiness. The child of God, who has the indwelling of the Spirit of God, seeks after holiness. In contrast to sin and transgression and iniquity, the man of God seeks after God in the inward man. He seeks to live a holy life.
This desire is the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the heart of the man of God. In the analogy of how physical food nourishes and satisfies bodily needs, the spiritual man is nourished and finds satisfaction in the ways of God. This is proof of regeneration, proof of the power of the indwelling holding sway the heart to a life of righteousness.
This is directly fulfilled when the spiritual man feeds on the Word of God. It is strength to the bones and marrow to the soul. Let this new day be blessed and filled with the sumptuous feast as we open our Bibles to behold Hs glory. Amen.
