Matthew 5:7 Blessed Are the Merciful

Matthew 5:7 (KJV)  Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Christ blesses the merciful. These show that understanding has the mind of Christ and a heart of compassion. Rooted in God’s love, they go forth with the gospel mandate to show the depth, and breadth of God in sending His Son to save us.

Through acts of kindness, the love of God is brought forth to bear fruit, to touch the heart, to strengthen the ailing soul in a hard and cruel world. There is a reciprocating that God enacts to bless the kind-hearted in Christ. They shall obtain mercy.

This is well testified by the psalmist in Psalm 41:1-3 (KJV)  To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness. 

Such a one receives the comfort of God’s mercy. Amrn.
