Psalm 27:4 One Thing Have I Desired of the LORD
Psalm 27:4 (KJV) One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.
Dwelling in the presence of the LORD is a foretaste of heavenly joy. The psalmist understood this and sought to be in constant communion with his LORD. And he sought to do so all the days of his life until heaven become a blessed reality.
While on earth, there are many dangers – Psalm 27:2-3 (KJV) When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
Dwelling in the presence of God brings confidence to his heart in the ever-threatening scenes of life that the psalmist experience. In worship, he finds rest for his soul – Psalm 27:1 (KJV) A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
It dispels fear and brings light in the midst of mortal darkness. There is always deliverance with the LORD. There in the temple of God, he saw enthralled with the glory of God’s presence and finds answers to the enigmas of life.
Amen.
