Romans 6:17-18 Servants of Righteousness
Romans 6:17-18 (KJV) But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Much thanksgiving to God for the transformation of being servants of sin to become servants of righteousness. In the new birth, one is cleansed from the inward filthiness of sin. And the heart purged of the dominion and bondage of sin has the strength to choose to love God and obey His holy commandments.
Before the new birth, we were dead in trespasses and sins. There is a change. As a result of the new birth, we begin to understand spiritual things. We become a believer in the true sense of the word. The new birth brings forth a new man. A spiritual man, living on a new plane touching on the divine. A man of faith in God through Christ is a technical description.
He says “no” to sin, having been made clean, he abhors uncleanness – Proverbs 1:10 (KJV) My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
The new nature is holy in character, pure and undefiled, reflecting the holiness of our heavenly Father. Truly, blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God (Matthew 5:8). Amen.
