Isaiah 9:6 Our Great God and Saviour
Isaiah 9:6 (KJV) For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Here is the prophecy of our Lord’s advent, giving proof of Christ’s humanity and Deity. Jesus is fully human, conceived in the womb of Mary. Jesus is fully divine, Mary knew no man for she was a virgin when the Holy Child grew in her womb. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Ghost, the seed of the woman.
Genesis 3:15 (KJV) And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
He is the King of kings and Lord of lords. He sovereignly rules over heaven and earth. And His attributes are described in His Name. He is called Wonderful.
Psalm 107:21 (KJV) Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
KJV Exodus 15:11 Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? (Exod. 15:11 KJV)
In Him is encompassed all wisdom therefore as Counsellor, He provides the perfect counsel to guide us – Colossians 2:3 (KJV) In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
By all His miracles, Jesus attested that He is the mighty God – no disease He cannot heal, no demon He cannot subdue, and no part of nature is not under His authority.
He is the everlasting Father, in that, He was there of old to create all things – all that is in this universe, all things find their origin in Him that’s the meaning of the word “Father”, and all the universe finds its sustenance out of His power mercifully enacted. We acknowledge that all we are comes from Him.
In Christ, we find reconciliation for sins and true peace comes through the atoning work of Christ on our behalf at His crucifixion. Hence, He is our peace.
Let us, therefore, come to Him in all things and love Him for His great us toward usward. Amen.
