Deuteronomy 4:40 Keeping and Prolonging

Deuteronomy 4:40 (KJV)  Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever.

There is a clear correlation between obeying God’s Word and His blessings in prolonging our days on the earth as seen here in the clear exhortation of Moses to the children of Israel. The faith that was once delivered unto the saints needs to be committed to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

In the history of Israel, the periods of disobedience were the periods of judgment and chastisement. Two deportations out of the Promised Land, recorded by the LORD in the Book of Deuteronomy, help us to understand our frailty and proneness to stray and wander from His commandments.

The lesson of history is for our admonition and our advancement in our spiritual walk. Let this faith be passed on and Christ’s testimony exalted Amen.
