Matthew 16:18 Upon This Rock

Matthew 16:18 (KJV)  And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Upon Christ will the church be built – upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone. (Ephesians 2:20). Christ is the rock on which man’s life can be built upon which no storm can dislodge – Matthew 7:24-25 (KJV)  Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

For such a life in Christ, not even the gates of hell could prevail against it. All evil defeated – Psalm 121:7-8 (KJV)  The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. 

Praise God for the stability of the church of Jesus Christ in a crumbling world. Amen.
