2 Peter 1:4 Having Escaped the Corruption
2 Peter 1:4 (KJV) Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
The Christian life is a happy one for the Christian has been delivered from the eternal consequence of sin and its eternally miserable effects in the judgment of hell fire. This is possible by the power of God through Jesus Christ in His atoning death on the cross and resurrection from the dead three days later.
In the words of the Apostle Peter, the Christian is a partaker of the divine nature. There is a supernaturally endowed power through the Holy Spirit to live above the corruption that is in the world through lust.
The Christian has the power to deal with sin with the help of the indwelling Holy Spirit, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. This life of purity is precious and the Christian cherishes the freedom accorded through Christ to live on higher ground. This power is harnessed through His written Word. Let us take time to meditate upon His Word. Amen.
