Hebrews 2:14-16 The Seed of Abraham
Hebrews 2:14-16 (KJV) Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
It was the seed of Abraham, Abraham and his descendants that the spiritual battle was waged. Christ will come from the descentants of Abraham.
Matthew 1:1 (KJV) The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
Matthew 1:16-17 (KJV) And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
The adversary, the devil, suffered defeat, when the power of death was vanquished by Christ when Christ was crucified on the cross to bear the penalty of sin which is death, not just physical death but spiritual death or eternal death.
Jesus Christ, entered human history, took on human flesh that He might free men who trust in Him from the fear of death, for He resurrected from the dead, defeating sin, the devil and death on our behalf. All praise and glory to His Name. Amen.
