Matthew 28:20 Lo, I Am With You Alway
Matthew 28:20 (KJV) Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Thank God for the testimony of Jesus Christ in every local church that God established as a beacon of light, as the citadel of truth, as a haven for lost souls to find comfort and security. This security that the gospel offers is eternal security. It is true and real security and safety. Gospel tells us we have eternal life why should we be afraid?
Hebrews 2:14-15 (KJV) Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
In table talks, the common topic in the mind is our job prospects, where we have a better investment, we seek better health care, is there a better pleasure, enjoyment. Why is this foremost in our minds? Because they want to be happy. What is true happiness? Happiness encompasses a lot of things – we inadvertently link happiness to our security.
Why do we gather during the New Year? We see that is value in bonding, not just eat and drink, that’s just the minor part of it. There is sharing, we seek meaning and value in our relationships, and it seemed to bring us security in that togetherness.
That is exactly the gospel. In God through Christ, we are eternally secure, we do not need to worry. He promises us of His care, we are more precious than many sparrows, even the hair on our head He numbers, we are eternally secure because the Father in heaven takes care of us. This is the good news.
What is the gospel? It speaks to those who fail in life. Why do we fail in life – no discipline, laze, cannot persevere, we are weak and limited. God gives us strength. If we are already healthy, we do not need help.
The gospel is the power to save. Those who have received the good news, go out and share. God give us a new heart and makes us a new man. Jesus says He will be with us all the way as we embark on the blessed journey of making disciples for His glory. Amen.
