Psalm 62:5 Waiting Only Upon God

Psalm 62:5 (KJV)  My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. 

The psalmist understood that living in the centre of God’s will is the best and he will not live for anything less. He patiently waits for God to direct his steps and lighten his paths.

His expectation describes his hope. His hope is in God. And the word “wait” means “to be silent”. He tells himself to be quiet and be still for His God will certainly direct his journey and he will not move until the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night will give the signal.

He could not see ahead, he knows that God does and therefore he can trust him to lead him to green pastures and still waters. The restful soul accomplishes much. Therefore, let us rest in Him. Amen.
