1 Peter 1:14-16 Be Ye Holy In All Manner of Conversation

1 Peter 1:14-16 (KJV)  As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. 

As God’s children, we are to be a reflection of our God. It is emphasized that God is holy and therefore, as God’s children, redeemed by His blood, we are to be holy in our daily lives.

Let not the old life be a hindrance to the new life. In the old life, fulfilling the lusts of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and being prideful, seemed right and legitimate. Having had our spiritual eyes opened to discern good and evil, let God’s people, therefore, walk in obedience to God, and not indulge in the sinful life of the past.

Obeying God’s laws is entirely possible and viable with the help of the Holy Spirit, thereby procuring favour with God, and bearing spiritual fruit in our lives. Amen.
