John 17:15 Protection While On Mission

John 17:15 (KJV) I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

Our Lord understood that His disciples would be left on earth after His ascension to heaven and He sought for the Father to protect them from evil. Our Lord left His disciples with the mission to evangelise the world. In a world dominated by evil and darkness, they shall shine and function as salt to arrest decay.

The psalmist’s prayer articulated God’s promise of protection stands true and gives assurance to His people that He will help them.

Psalm 121:7 (KJV)  The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. 

Psalm 121:8 (KJV)  The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
