Romans 5:17 Abundance of Grace and Of the Gift of Righteousness

Romans 5:17 (KJV)  For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) 

The fall of man was a great fall. It plunged Adam and his posterity to eternal separation from God through physical death and more miserably in eternal death. God in His mercy reversed this through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for man’s sins on the cross. Jesus was resurrected from the dead after three days and henceforth living forevermore.

Sin was dealt with. And men receive the abundance of God’s grace, favour unmerited and underserved, restored to favour with God and stand in the righteousness of Christ’s atonement on their behalf. God’s wrath is averted on the repentant sinner.

The repentant stands to reign with Christ forevermore as His representative on earth and as His very own in eternity. May the Lord help us to comprehend the breadth and depth of His love and give thanks for His goodness. Amen.
