Proverbs 14:27 A Fountain of Life

Proverbs 14:27 (KJV)  The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. 

It is in the fear of the LORD that a life is blessed. Solomon described it as the fountain of life. The Source and the Sustenance and Sustaining of life. To fear the LORD is to obey His commandments. To fear the LORD to give Him all honour and reverence.

For without the fear of the LORD, one faces the snares of death. A devastating prospect. Therefore, the admonition is not to forsake the LORD. Rather, fear Him and walk with Him. Enoch walked with God. Noah walked with God. Abraham walked with God. In the original Hebrew text, it is recorded that Enoch and Noah walked with “the God” in three instances to affirm that this is the LORD. Their lives were blessed by the LORD.

So will our lives be when we will fear the LORD. Amen.
