1 Corinthians 6:11 Washed and Sanctified
1 Corinthians 6:11 (KJV) And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
Before we come to God through Christ, we are sinners through and through. But through Christ, we receive new life, the washing of regeneration, receiving the new birth. The Spirit of God indwells us because of what Jesus Christ has done on the cross to save us and by faith, we received this salvation turning from our sins and turning to Christ for cleansing.
There is a change. We have been washed and sanctified, made holy, set apart, as God’s children. We are justified in the Name of the Lord Jesus. In the sight of God, we have been accepted. The wrath of God has been averted as a result of Christ’s righteousness being appropriated by us through faith.
Let us therefore by the grace of God live in holiness for His glory, Amen.
