Philippians 1:6 He Which Hath Begun a Good Work in You
Philippians 1:6 (KJV) Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
When we received Christ in salvation, in the new birth, Christ by His Spirit, begins the work of grace in our lives. The work of Christ in our lives is termed “good” because it is accepted by the Father.
The Apostle Paul speaks confidently affirming the power and wisdom and enduring mercy of God to fulfil the work that has begun in the believer’s life when he or she receives salvation in the Lord.
This persevering work of God in the lives of the believer finds its culmination in the return of Christ, described here as the day of Christ.
When Christ comes, the church is glorified, and we receive an incorruptible body, rewarded for service and reign with Christ on earth for a thousand years before reigning in eternity in the new heaven and the new earth. What a work that has begun! We have not seen yet what wondrous things the Lord will do on our behalf. Let us therefore hope in Him and walk with Him this new day. Amen.
