Luke 19:10 The Son of Man Is Come to Seek and to Save that Which Was Lost
Luke 19:10 (KJV) For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
The reason for Christ’s incarnation, His coming in the flesh, was that He might as a man seek and save sinful men lost in the misery of sin. While He came as a man, He is at the same time fully God, the eternal, self-existent God.
His Name “Jesus” proclaims His mission, He came as our Saviour. In fact, the Scripture emphatically affirms to us in Acts 4:12, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Only Jesus saves!
The “lost” describes men who have lost their way, estranged from God, their Maker and Sustainer. God personally came in the Person of His Son, Jesus Christ, to live a perfect life on our behalf, fulfilling all the laws of God on our behalf and died upon the cross at Calvary for our sins. He rose from the dead on the third day, conquering sin and death on our behalf.
All who turn from their sins, who call upon Jesus, by faith. shall be saved! Thank God for revealing the Saviour to us. May we embrace and proclaim Him with praise and thanksgiving. Amen.
