Deuteronomy 13:4 Walk After the LORD Your God
Deuteronomy 13:4 (KJV) Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
The LORD leads the way and His people follow Him. Just as the shepherd takes care of his sheep, the LORD takes care of us. The shepherd goes before the sheep to find green pastures and stillwaters. The shepherd shows the way to their nourishment, so the sheep follow their shepherd.
The one spiritual attitude to follow the LORD is to fear Him. To honour and reverence Him, to know He leads us in His perfect will for our lives. Moses exhorted Israel to walk humbly with the LORD God.
He grants His grace that we may have the strength to overcome sin, obey His commandments, and serve Him. To serve as the sense of worship, our lives are fully our worship of Him, giving glory by our “following hard” after Him, this is the word to “cleave”.
This is the way of blessing. Let us therefore walk therein. Amen.
