Colossians 3:15 Let the Peace of God Rule In Your Hearts
Colossians 3:15 (KJV) And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
To rule means literally to sit as umpire, to govern and control, to preside over. God’s peace is that which must rule in believers’ hearts.
The “peace of God” provides calmness to the agitated and disturbed soul. It will also put in subjection the rage of passion and emotion, and it ensures that the mind stays upon sanctified action that promotes spiritual order. This will keep the body of Christ in oneness.
A spirit of thankfulness, acknowledgement of all the mercies that God bestows, and thinking upon the Christian’s privilege brings to the body harmony and peace. Whereas ungrateful people are often dissatisfied, restless, disgruntled, and agitated. It is therefore paramount that believers be reminded of the sense of gratitude toward God for His mercies that bring forth peace and restful order. Amen.
