Psalm 1:3 A Tree Planted by the Rivers of Water
Psalm 1:3 (KJV) And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
A tree planted by the rivers of water is well nourished and that consistent and constant feeding and nourishing of the roots strengthens the tree so that in time, when the fruiting season comes, it will be a good harvest.
The leaves of this tree shall not wither in that they are a precursor to identifying a healthy tree before fruit finally comes. The withering of the leaves is a sign of disease and decay. The healthy state of the leaves attests to the good nourishment that they are receiving.
The psalmist likens the fruiting tree to the believer’s life which is life well-connected with God and well-nourished by the life-giving Word of God. Such a life shall prosper in every way in that God blesses the life that is guided and nourished by Him. Amen.
