1 Corinthians 2:12 Received the Spirit Which is of God

1 Corinthians 2:12 (KJV) Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

It is the Holy Spirit that gives the believer understanding of God’s Word. It is the illumination of the Holy Spirit that causes a person to be able to understand and cherish God’s Word as the truth.

John 14:17 (KJV) Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

John 15:26 (KJV) But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

The spirit of the world is opposed to the Holy Spirit of God. Therefore, the believer is exhorted to test every spirit. And the yardstick is the written Word of God.
