Lord’s Day, Vol. 12 No. 2
I. Recounting with Much Thanksgiving
(1) 1 January
Reading through the Bible in One Year was launched again to encourage members and friends to develop the spiritual discipline of reading through the Bible every year.
(2) 1 January
Daily Devotion from selected verses is published in the church website and app for the edification of members and friends.
(3) 2 January
The series of messages on the Lord’s Day from the Book of Exodus began on 21 November 2021 and continued with Exodus 28 “Consecration for Service”.
(4) 8 January
Adult Sunday Class continues on the Book of 1 Corinthians which began 14 November 2021 and through the year 2023.
(5) 29 January
BHBPC’s 9th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service. The theme was “Lo, I am with You Alway” (Matthew 28:10). There was the baptism of Christopher Tan Eik Chor. Margaret Ho Kum Choy and Quek Siew Lee joined the church by membership transfer.
(6) 5 February
The 6th Anniversary of the Mandarin Service with the message “Lo, I am with you Alway” (Matthew 28:20).
(7) 5 March
The 8th Anniversary of YF/YAF was commemorated with “Abraham’s Faith” message taken from Hebrews 11:8-10.
(8) 26 March
BHBPC’s 9th Annual Congregational Meeting was held after worship service with an exhortation from Matthew 6:19-34.
(9) 7 April
Good Friday Service was held at the Worship Centre. Message: An Offering for Sin (Isaiah 5:1-12).
(10) 9 April
Sunrise Service was held in the Worship Centre with the exhortation “He is Risen” (Mark 16:1-20).
(11) 10 June
Mr Lee Khiak Khiam , Marcus Lee’s father, went home to be with the Lord in the afternoon of 10 June 2023. A vigil service was held on 11 June and the funeral was on 12 June 2023.
(12) 14-17 June
Family Bible Camp was held in Sofitel City Centre Hotel from 14-17 June 2023. The theme “The Renewing of the Mind” was taken from Romans 12:1-2.
(13) 16 June
Homegoing of Sister Lily Tan (Mrs Tow), mother of Marjorie Tow and mother-in-law of Mr Chang, on the early morning of 16 June at the Family Bible Campsite. Vigil Service was held on 18 June and the Funeral Service and Burial was held on 19 June.
(14) 3 September
Gospel Rally 2023 was held at the Mandarin Service and the English Service in the Worship Centre with the theme “The Gift of God” (Romans 6:23). There were seven new visitors for the English Service.
(15) 16 September
Homegoing of Mr Boon Kok Fook in the afternoon. Vigil Services were held from 17 September to 19 September. The funeral service and burial were on 20 September.
(16) 29 October
Commemoration of 16th Century Protestant Reformation on Reformation Sunday, with a message entitled “The Heart of the Reformation” (2 Timothy 3:12-17.
(17) 13-15 December
The Church’s First Old Paths Conference was held on 13-15 December at the Marriott Tang Hotel. Theme: “The Godly Heritage of the Puritans”.
(18) 13 December 202
Launch of the Holy Bible without chapters and verses based on the King James Authorized Version.
(19) 24 December
Christmas Praise Service was held at the Worship Centre with the message “Rejoice the Saviour is Born” (Luke 2:1-20).
(20) 31 December
Year-End Service was held at the Worship Centre with a message entitled “Be Ye Steadfast” (1 Corinthians 15:57-58). Infant baptism of Anna Lim Zhen Ning, the 4-month-old daughter of Lim Zhuo Yan and Grace Ho Fong Hui.
Thank God for indeed a blessed year of worship and thanksgiving toward our great God and soon coming Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
(II) 10th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service
God willing, we shall gather on 28 January for the 10th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service of the Blessed Hope Bible-Presbyterian Church at the Worship Centre. The theme is “How Excellent is Thy Lovingkindness, O God!” (Psalm 36:7a) with exhortation taken from Psalm 36:7-10.
Ten years marked a key milestone for a new church. Retracing our steps helps us to rest more assuredly in the LORD’s leading moving forward. The 10th Anniversary Photo Book, God willing, be distributed.
May the Lord be glorified as we gather for this blessed milestone of the church. Amen.
