Psalm 46:3-4 The Streams Thereof Make Glad the City of God

Psalm 46:3-4 (KJV) Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

With God in the midst of His people, there is calmness and quiet confidence to overcome roaring and troubled world. The reason is clearly testified by the psalmist at the opening – Psalm 46:1 (KJV) To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Truly, God is able and He is a tower of strength and a safety for His people committed to His care and guardianship. Therefore, let His people not fear in troublous times – Psalm 46:2 (KJV) Therefore will not we fear …

The dwelling of God with His people, described here as a strong city, well-watered, nourishing the entire city. In faith, let His people come to Him and find in Him in every instance our very present help. Amen.
