James 1:12 Blessed Is the Man That Endureth Temptation

James 1:12 (KJV) Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

To endure has a sense of refusing to flee hold out, stand one’s ground, be patient under, suffer, put up with, continue firm, absolutely endure, persevere. The believer is to do so continually as a spiritual habit.

A temptation is enticement to sin. It could be an affliction to go through without murmuring and complaining. And therefore to endure temptation is to depend upon God for strength to say “no” to sin. Such a man who endures temptation is blessed of God.

He shall receive the crown of life which is eternal life or simply put eternal happiness. Amen.
