Lord’s Day, Vol. 12 No. 17
(1) How Is Your Bible Reading?
Since 1 January 2024, the church has embarked on the spiritual endeavour to read the Old and New Testament Scriptures twice by the end of April 2025 with the church’s newly printed King James Bible without chapters and verses.
To date, we have read the Books of Job, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy, and endeavouring to complete the Book of Joshua by 5 May 2024. We shall “Open the Book of Joshua” in our Lord’s Day sermon on 5 May 2024, at the same time complete our sermon series on the Book of Joshua entitled “In the Strength of the LORD”.
We are encouraged to persevere with our Bible reading, taking notes of what the Lord has impressed upon our hearts. With fervent prayer, by the Holy Spirit’s help, let us pray as did the psalmist of old in Psalm 119:18 (KJV) Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
There were three biblical pointers to speed us in our Bible reading, recalling our weekly newsletter on 30 December 2023 – “Let us remember three biblical pointers to aid our reading summarised as the six “P”: (1) Pray (2) Patience (3) Perseverance.” And ensuing blessings, as we tarry with the Lord and walk with Him through consistent Bible reading, He imparts His wisdom to guide us in our daily walk (4) Prudence (5) Peace (6) Praise.”
May I add a 7th “P” – Progress. Making spiritual progress as the Apostle Peter well exhorted the church at the close of his last epistle in 2 Peter 3:18 (KJV) But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
(2) Family Bible Camp 2024
The church, God willing, shall gather for our annual Family Bible Camp from 11 – 14 June 2024. The camp theme is “The Day of Christ Is at Hand” (2 Thessalonians 2:2). We shall endeavour to study the Apostle Paul’s early epistles 1 & 2 Thessalonians. There are eight precious chapters which we shall seek to open and discover biblical truths so that the church may be prepared and ready for Christ’s return, the church’s blessed hope!
Tremendous privileges as God’s people for we are given so much of God’s wisdom, commissioned to tread cautiously, carefully, courageously, comfortingly, calmly, and conscientiously to consider the coming of our Lord. It was at the same camp venue in December 2020 in the midst of the pandemic when we meditated upon Christ’s first coming. Let us prepare to meet with the Lord at camp!
Yours lovingly,
Pastor Lek Aik Wee
