John 15:5 Abide In Me
John 15:5 (KJV) I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Christ bids His disciples to abide in Him. For in abiding Him the disciples will be fruitful in their lives. He is the vine, Christ explains, and they are the branches. The branches receives their nourishment from the vine.
As such, the branch that is estranged from the vine will die, not only will it not bear fruit. A stark reality that Christ’s disciples often not see. He says, “Without Me, ye can do nothing.” An sobering and emphatic truth for our understanding and therefore practice.
Let us therefore abide in Christ and He in us, that our lives may bring forth eternal fruit for His glory to our comfort and joy. Amen.
