Deuteronomy 4:40 Keep Therefore His Statutes and Commandments
KJV Deuteronomy 4:40 Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever. (Deut. 4:40 KJV)
Moses exhorted the children of Israel to keep the statutes and commandments of the LORD. Their obedience will be for their preservation and the prolonging of their days. Not only must the children of Israel obey the laws of God, but they are to teach them to their children so that they too will obey for their own good.
Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else. (Deut. 4:39 KJV)
The gravity of the exhortation is that the LORD God authoritatively speaks to His people as if heaven opens, and God speaks directly from heaven. May His Word not return unto His void but accomplish His good purpose to protect and prosper His people in their way. Amen.
