Deuteronomy 7:6 A Holy, Chosen and Special People

Deuteronomy 7:6 (KJV) For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

The privilege of God’s people is well articulated by Moses – a holy, chosen and special people. Holiness is the unique spiritual character of God’s people through Christ who imputes this righteousness by His sacrifice on our behalf as depicted by the Levitical sacrifices in Israel.

God’s people are His people because He has chosen them so that the privilege is accorded to them. Not for any good that His people possesses innately. He chose us because He loved us with an everlasting love. An almost unfathomable truth. But for His people who have experienced His love will certainly attest to God’s elective choice.

God’s people are special. The word “special” literally means “peculiar possession, valued property” alluding the preciousness of God’s people in His sight. Let His people meditate upon His great condescension to save and sanctify and soon to glorify them by His imminent return. Amen.
