Psalm 8:4 What is Man?

Psalm 8:4 (KJV) What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

What is man? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. (Psalm 8:5) Also, Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: (Psalm 8:6)

The Genesis account gave credence to the psalmist’s declaration – Genesis 1:26 (KJV) And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Man is the the most precious of God’s creation. For man is made in the image of God to fellowship with the Godhead – Father, Son and Holy Spirit! What tremendous privilege is the gist of the psalmist’s declaration. Let His people cherish and rejoice in the LORD. Amen.
