John 17:8-11 Keep Through Thine Own Name Those Who Thou Hast Given Me

John 17:8-11 (KJV) For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

Our Lord Jesus prayed to the Father in heaven as He prepares to go to the cross and die and be resurrected and be ascended to heaven that His disciples would be kept by the Father when He is no more in the world.

The disciples were not alone on earth when our Lord is ascended to the right hand of the Father in heaven. As the Father and the Son are one, Christ said to the Father, “That they may be one, as we are one.”

John 17:12 (KJV) While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

All the redeemed in Christ will be kept by Christ till they are translated to heaven. None of them is lost. Amen.
