John 17:15 Though Shouldest Keep Them From the Evil

John 17:15 (KJV)  I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

God’s people are protected from the evil one, Satan, through the intercessory prayer of Christ to the Father when they are in the world. We are kept in the world but also kept from the incursions of the world through the evil one.

Christ taught the church to pray – Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil (the evil one). For the Lord’s doth protect His people. The example of Job brings comfort to God’s people when we see his eventual triumph amidst sore trials.

This is the encouragement for God’s people on earth, as a promise the Father fends for them through Christ’s everlasting high priesthood. Amen.
