Psalm 37:18-19 Not Be Ashamed in the Evil Time

Psalm 37:18-19 (KJV) The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. 19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. 

The evil time, the time when the darkness of evil seemed to have its sway in the environment and surrounding circumstances. The psalmist related it to the days of famine. Whether it is economic depression, war and rumours of war, the people of God can be assured of the LORD’s care in these trying times.

They are cared for because the LORD sees to it that His power prevails over the prevalent evil. As such they shall not be ashamed but boldly stand in the evil day.

The upright are those who have committed their lives to Christ and therefore are under the covenant care of the Lord forever. This is the blessing of God’s people even in difficult times. Amen.
