Matthew 5:16 Let Your Light So Shine Before Men

Matthew 5:16 (KJV)  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

The Christian shines for the Lord by his testimony to impact lives for eternity. To lend an Old Testament rendition of this verse, let us look at Proverbs 4:18 (KJV) But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

The Apostle Paul said well paraphrasing the text in Philippians 2:15-16 (KJV) That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; 16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

Likewise, the Apostle Peter said in 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV) But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. Amen.
